All About Us
Weobley Women's Institute was first formed in 1919 and, after a break of a few years, was reformed in 2016. We keep business and formality to the minimum and encourage our members to become involved in the meetings. You will find us here.
We are a group of local women of all ages, backgrounds and interests but are united in our enjoyment of sociable, informative and entertaining gatherings. Visitors are always welcome and your first visit is free!
Your WI Is What You Make It
Each of the monthly meetings will offer something different. Whether a talk, craft activity, demonstration or a social evening we always find plenty to talk and laugh about and end our meetings with refreshments which are often home-made. Topics for our meetings have included talks about Forensic Science (CSI Weobley), Refugee Resettlement, Travels in Uganda and Owl Rescue, whilst we have had taster sessions in crafts such as felting, batik and making bags from fabric scraps. We have also had a go at morris dancing, seen demonstrations of cooking and had lessons in making chilli-based chutneys. We also enjoy any excuse for a drink and some food so our social evenings and Christmas meetings are a great night out. You can see some photos of our previous activities in the gallery.
If you have a particular skill or interest you would like to share please let us know. If you have always wanted to try a particular craft or activity you should talk to someone on the committee about this and we will do our best to fit it into a future meeting.
The WI is run by volunteers who are also members so please help them out where you can with ideas, volunteering at events or simply packing away the chairs at the end of the meeting. Together we can all have lots of fun. Check out what we have in store in the current programme here.
